This is where it all started. The seeds of media4charity were planted and the relationship between us and The Railway Children charity formed.
Glamnation was a glam rock Christmas party held for the staff of Imagination Ltd and was used used as an opportunity to raise funds for a charity.
The party consisted of a band, comedian, magicians, and make up artists. About £11,000 was raised for the charity through donations, selling off old equipment, cake sales raffle and tombola etc. Many services for the party were donated by suppliers to Imagination, likewise prizes were donated and acquired by members of staff.
The whole idea of Glamantion came around from discussions that the annual Christmas party should be run by the company’s staff and that it should be done in aid of a good cause. After all, that is what Christmas is all about, isn’t it!
I would love this to be a model for other company’s to embrace. The formula behind this is that the company’s staff members should receive an entertaining party for the hard work they have put in over the year, to involve them breaks down barriers within the company and makes the staff feel more inclusive and doing something for a good cause gives a great feel good factor. It is hard work, but worth all of the effort.
