Staff from The Railway Children’s offices in India joined forces with 28 enthusiastic and excited street youth and numerous other volunteers to raise awareness of their work and bring street children to the forefront of peoples’ minds.
The children who live at CST Station in Mumbai, covered the ‘Dream Run’ distance of 6 kilometres, armed with placards and banners amidst cries of ‘Railway Children’. The boys skipped, jumped and danced their way in the marathon. Some of the staff members ran the half and full marathon of 21 and 42 kilometres respectively.
media4charity was there and helped by providing sponsorship for the t shirts, hats and banners. Further to this we put our money where are mouth was and yours truly competed in the half marathon.
It was truly an unforgettable experience, and even though I got a ridiculously slow time for the half marathon I completed it.
